THINK GREEN The 2011 golf season is finally here. The cold and snow of winter may be great for some of you, however other than a daily walk around the course with my dog Annie, I find little pleasure in winter any more. It's time to dust off the clubs find your golf shoes and get out there and knock the rust of that great golf swing you know you are capable of. An early start to a long glorious golfing summer is what I'm hoping for. MEMBERSHIP For those of you who like to play 2 to 3 times a week we believe a member~hip at Beckwith continues to be one of the best deal around. As a member you are entitled to unlimited golf seven days a week. The club has a number of annual tournaments both social and competitive for ladies or men or mixed if this is what you are interested in. Many members merely enjoy 9 or 18 holes of golf with a spouse or friend in what we hope is both a pleasant and relaxing environment. All this and more for only $600.00 plus HST. The club has always considered the membership full at 125. Again in 2011 we will be aiming at this total and based on early renewals and applications for new membership we have already received we do expect to reach our maximum. For those of you who have not renewed, or are thinking of a membership for 2011, please do not delay. Confirm your spot early and avoid disappointment. As an added bonus our Members will continue to receive a 10% discount on any daily guest green fee or power cart rental.
AT THIS TIME WE WOULD LIKE TO WELCOME THE NEW MEMBERS ALREADY CONFIRMED FOR 2011 CATHY HAMSEM &LARRY BERGERON RICHARD BOUGHNER MARION CUMMINGS MURIEL GOUGH PAUL MOMBOURQUETTE SUSAN YOUNG
MEMBER SUPPORT At this time we would like to thank all the members for their support and assistance. Many hands help make light work of the tasks involved in running the many club events and tournaments. We would also like to thank the many members who assist us on the course, be it taking time to fix extra ball marks on the green, replacing a divot left by some careless golfer, picking up after some thoughtless player leaves a can, bottle or paper wrapper around the course. We also have a number of members who have been spotted weeding the flower gardens or raking a trap even though they did not go in it. Thanks to you all. TEE TIMES For the 2011 season, we will continue to offer tee times either made in person or by calling 613-284-0688 up to 7 days in advance. We also remind you that those booking 18 holes are guaranteed a starting time for their front nine along with a confirmed time 2 hours later for their back nine. Though we continue to do our best to make your time at Beckwith an enjoyable one, we do expect you to be able to play 9 holes of golf in under 2 hours. We would remind everyone that their position on the course is right behind the group ahead of you. GREEN FEE AND CART PACKAGES A very important part of our business continues to be daily green fees and cart rentals for 9 or 18 holes. For those interested we will continue offering discounted packages for both greens fees and cart fees. We remind you that our packages are good for one year from the date they are purchased, plenty of time to ensure you will receive the full value of your purchase. Again we will be also offering the annual cart program which allows participants unlimited number of cart rides for the season. Charges for this program are per person. Players sharing the cart with those who have purchased this program will be charged the half cart rate for either 9 or 18 holes depending on the number of holes they are playing. TOURNAMENTS The club does host a number of outside tournaments. We appreciate the support many of you have provided by booking your company or family events at the club. If you are planning such an event in 2011 please consider us as a possible site. Contact either Ellen or John regarding availability and to discuss your needs. SENIORS DAYS This year we will continue to offering to anyone over the age of 60 a 10% discount on most purchases they make on Fridays. Items such as alcoholic beverages, memberships, discounted green fee or cart fee packages currently offered by the club along with club events or tournament packages are not included. If you wish to take advantage of the discounts please identify your self as a SENIOR before making any purchases. ANNUAL CLUB EVENTS The 2011 calendar of events is available. Ask for your own personal copy and mark your calendar so you will be able to participate in any and all the events that you enjoy. Again this year we have spread the events throughout the season using both Saturday and Sunday mornings. The committees have worked hard at tweaking the events we will be running this year to hopefully ensure they are enjoyable and fair for all participants.

BILLY GOAT TOURNAMENT We are going to try this event for another year. Again each person who registers for the season will be given a token known as the Goat. Each week players can challenge other participant. This year instead of it being match play the winner will be determined by who shoots the lowest net nine holes for the night. Another change is that participants can challenge up to four different players each week. The cost is $2.00 for one challenge $3.00 for 2 challenges $4.00 for 3 challenges & $5.00 for 4 challenges. No double challenges allowed. A registration sheet will be at the counter each Friday Night confirming who challenged who. A draw will be used at the end of the evening to determine which challenger will record hers or his results for the night first. The rest of the rules will remain the same. The person who loses the match loses their Goat to the winner. Participants without a Goat can still challenge others to try and get a Goat back, however if they lose again the winner will receive a different token called a Kid. (Kids can not be lost once you win one). The overall winner will be the person with the most tokens. Other winners will be the Female and Male with the most Goats or most Kids at the end of the season. All the funds collected will be divided equally in five and paid out as cash prizes. The event will start the first Friday of June ending the last Friday of August. A light dinner for all those interested will again be available following your game. |
